Brief Description:  Eletrical wiring

Yesterday and today I worked on the last few details before putting the bottom skin on. The first project that took the longest was cleaning the exterior of the wings. Vans coats the QB wings with an oily substance to protect the skins during shipment. It was incredibly difficult to get off. I bet I spent 4 hours cleaning the wings. That did allow me to inspect the wings in much greater detail than I had previously. The coating had hidden some pretty deep scratches. I used 800 grit paper and very gently rubbed the scratches out. It was irritaing to find three or four deep scatches..

After cleaning the wings, I started wrapping up the last bit of wiring issues before closing the wing. I put connectors on all of the wires inside the wing; the pitot heat and landing lights and tinned the other ends getting ready for connectors; the position and taxi lights. I am using "molex" style connectors where it makes sense. To ensure a good connection I am soldiering the wire to the connector, not just crimping. An extra step that may not be necessary but increases my sense of comfort. Remaining items are mounting the pitot heat control box, installing the pitot tube and riveting the aileron gap bracket to the rear spar on the left wing and finsihing the connectors on the Dynon servo wiring and riveting the aileron gap bracket. Hopefully most of those items will be done tomorrow.
