Brief Description: Installing the alternator and shunt
I installed the Plane Power 70 amp alternator. I bought this alternator especially to handle the load presented by this airplane's mainly electrical design.
The mounting bracket went on easily, but it took me a few shots to get the safety wiring right. I didn't tighten down the idler arm or swivel bolts, because I know I'll need them loose to install the fan belts later.
Once it was all connected, I installed the 100 amp/100 mv shunt to the firewall beneath the master and starter soloneids, following Path B from the Vertical Power VPX and Dynon Skyview EMS installation manuals. This will allow Skyview to show me the alternator output, while VPX shows total load.
For image 3, note that I later installed silicon boots to the white alternator cable that plugs into the shunt's bottom terminal.
