Vans issued a service bulletin on RV horizontal stabs to address cracks at the relief notches on the forward spar. I consulted with the Van's tech support folks, who recommended I apply the repair kit as a preventative maintenance measure since my aircraft isn't flying yet. This job took 4 work sessions to complete, and started with the complete deconstruction of my empennage to remove the horizontal stabilizer (that took 2 hours).
We pick up the action with me drilling out some 76 rivets holding the inner-most forward and main ribs to the skins and fore/aft spars. I only pooched 2 of them, and oops rivets will repair those.
