Brief Description: Prepping the project to ship to Texas
As my retirement from the USAF approached, Kelli and I knew we wanted to live in the DFW area. I had accepted a job with American Airlines Flight Academy as a ground school instructor for aircrews. Doug Reeves (owner/operator of the "Vans Air Force" web site) volunteered a corner of his "Van Cave" hangar at Northwest Regional Airport (52F, Roanoke TX) to serve as temporary storage until the family and I could move there in May.
I contracted with Partain Trading Company to ship my project from Newport News Williamsburg Airport to Doug's Van Cave. Partain had me remove the landing gear and mount the canopy. I bought a twin mattress, and Chris Mallory gave me this old wooden box. We stacked the fuselage on the mattress on the wood box. I boxed up all my stuff and let Partain move as much of my stuff as they could haul. I U-hauled the rest to Texas.
