Today I set out to complete the vertical stabilizer. I finished riveting the skin to the front and rear spar and then attached the fiberglass tip.
Needed to fit, drill and dimple the skin and countersink the fiberglass before using the blind rivets. First use of the blind rivet tool went smoothly. Next –time to attach the rear spar. Went fairly smoothly but had some difficulty with the taller rivets on the hinges blocking access to set the rivets on the skin to rear spar flange. Learned how to de-center the pneumatic and slowly squeeze as well as sneaking the angled portion of the tungsten bucking bar to meet the shop head of the rivet .
