Brief Description:  Fit and Drill Aileron Hinge

I laid out the rivet pattern and drilled the top piece then assembled and drilled through. I then broke them apart deburred all pieces and scuffed for priming. I got about half the priming done down stairs today. I had to keep the fumes down so I could not shoot a lot at one time.

To align and drill the bearing doublers I marked and drilled the rivet pattern on the top doubler. I then pressed the bearing through all three pieces fit in there final position making sure the doublers are similarly aligned and drilled through the pieces. I made a mark across all three on the bottom edge and put separate alignment marks on the nose of the piece to align each doubler on its respective side.

To press the bearings I had good luck with my bench vice. To unassemble this I used a 2 inch C-clamp and a 1.5 inch socket. The socket inner diameter was larger than the outer diameter of the bearing and the pressure was supplied by the clamp. I used only one bearing to do all four as I figured I would eventually screw up the bearing in the process. However it worked out great and the bearing was not sacrificed.
