Brief Description:  Turn and Bank

Recently received and installed the trutrak electric turn and bank. It completes the center instrument group that serves as backup to the EFIS. It is hooked up to the always-hot battery bus, and controlled with an on-off switch (and LED) to show when it's on. The intent is to turn it on before any night or IFR operations, so it's powered-up if the EFIS drops out, and stays powered-up if another electrical failure requires me to shut off the master switch. The LED is there to remind me to shut it off at the end of the flight, lest it drain the battery between flights.

It was quite a surprise to receive the unit and its incredibly beefy connector (overkill?), since it extends the depth of the unit by 2 additional inches and forced me to cut out a recess in the brand new peforated rack I installed behind the panel. Not a big issue, but something I'd have liked to know about before I installed the perforated rack.

I left enough slack in the wires to be able to remove the three-instrument group and set the panel to the side, so the perforated rack can be easily accessed. It will hold a 5V USB hub connected to the EFIS, as well as the ADS-B 'in' receiver.
