Brief Description: Revised Fuel Vent Plumbing: part 1
There was not enough space between the wing and fuselage to accept the carefully designed vent connections, so I had to disassemble everything. ugh!
I'm essentially shifting all connections from that small space to the inside of the fuselage, where there's loads of clearance for tubing bends etc...
Image 1 is what it used to look like: pilot's side vent connections between the wing and fuselage.
Image 2 shows the re-work: primary vent connections on the inside of the fuselage; secondary vent and ram-air tube connection loops exiting fuselage at right angles through grommets.
Precision bending aluminum tubing is tedious work: this one piece of tubing took 3 tries and 3 hours to get right! (Image 3) It is arguably the most difficult connection, as the location of the receiving fittings on the wing and in the fuselage are fixed in 3-dimentional space, and requires complex turns to connect while avoiding low points..
