Per Wayne's recomendations, I made up a poster-board template of the finished windshield for future reference in case this one breaks or cracks. It was hard to motivate myself to do this, but it's a small investment compared to the headache of having to trim the bottom edge of a new windshield to fit the custom-molded front retainer. Truthfully, I can't even imagine how long that would take. Now I can be confident that I'd have a new windshield installed in a matter of hours (and not days) if it ever came to that.
