With the panel environment largely complete, I've decided to turn my attention to the windshield install. The windshield needs a fibergalss retainer along its bottom edge and with the warmer weather now here, it seemed like a good thing to tackle now.
Image 1 shows the initial fit of the windshield right out of the box. Based on other builder's accounts, I need to tape the sides down, tape over the area to be cut, and scribe a line that follows the contours of the fuselage in this area. Before removing the windshield, I also placed witness marks all around to ensure the windshield goes back into the same position every time. Then, sanding/adjusting with 40 grit paper/block gets you 'within range' (Image 2).
This all gets repeated, while continually adjusting the wing-attach cut-outs, as the fit along the front edge improves.
