Brief Description:  Cowling air inlet redux

After my first engine run, it was suggested I increase the air inlet size from 4.75" diameter to at least 5.5". I bought a 3" length of 6" diameter (.25" wall) tube (Image 1) and asked my local friend to machine down the inside diameter to 5.75". Cut the 3" chunk in two, and you get to nice rings 1.5" in length. Repeated the steps of epoxying them into the cowl so they are pinned between the cowl halves (originally detailed in five posts starting 10 Sept 2015). Job done (Image 3)

Increasing the ring diameter by 1" results in a roughly 50% increase in cooling air passing through the nosebowl. Cheap insurance to keep the engine healthy.

Right inlet ring needed trimming to clear the alternator pulley and belt.
