Wing paint (like any paint project) is all about the prep. After cleaning the wing with degreaser, then solvent, I spent a few hours scotch-brite-ing the rivet heads and the surfaces right next to the rivet heads (Image 1). These areas are notoriously challenging to get to with straight Scotch-Brite pads, so I affixed bits of pads to a socket attachment, and spun it on the drill. Had to replace these pretty often, but beats doing it by hand.
Once complete, I etched the entire surface with the EcoEtch solution applied with a ScotchBrite pad.
Pressure washer clean up, followed by solvent clean-up left the surface shiny and ready for the water-based house-hold latex primer. Then it was time to lay down tape for the tri-color pattern to match the fuselage.
