With the fuselage heading out of the garage in the new year, I am closing out some items that have been lingering.
The sky-light windows in the roof (and their doublers) were cut years ago, but final install required some additional sanding and roundng of edges.
The side window cutouts are fairly straightforward as well.
For all these installations, I've decided to try double-sided 1/16" thick butyl foam tape 3/8" wide (Image 1). I was impressed with the butyl tape used on the windscreen, and even though this is not the same type of tape, it seemed to me that glazing tape would be a logical (and less messy) sealing option over a silicone RTV. This particular tape has a foam core, with thick layers of glue on each side. Sticks like crazy to the lexan, so you have to get the position just right before pulling the backing off.
Really important not to stretch tape when going around corners. Best to bunch it up a bit on the inside radius (see Image 1) and press it all flat once the window is glued on.
