Brief Description:  Brake line install : part 1

MAM brake lines are polyethylene (PE), and there has been at least one report of the PE brake line popping out of the fitting with prolonged braking (presumably, the assembly got really hot and softened the PE). On the whole though, there are few reported problems with this set-up. I have been oscillating for some time upgrading to AN4 braided lines for added durability and serviceability, but also better brake response and sensitivity. Braided lines don't expand much under braking pressure which translates into lighter and more sensitive braking forces. A lot of people buy these made to specific lengths for upwards of $60 per line, and that price had me second-guessing the decision. I recently found them in 2" increments from summit racing for under $16 a piece, which made this a no brainer upgrade at just over $100 for all parts.

Used a couple of 90 degree bulkhead fittings to bridge the outside and inside lines (Image 1). At the brake assembly, a 90 degree AN4 to 1/8" NPT fitting receives the other end of a 30" prefab brake hose.
