Brief Description:  Elevator controls

So, to start the year off, I decided to get the elevator controls out of the way. Even though I had already trial fitted the elevator push-rods and their exit holes in the fuselage, it required quite a bit of fiddling to get the right range of motion of the elevators. 30 degress up was easy, but 25 degrees down required additional trimming on the fuselage push-rod exit holes, as well as the lower inboard edge of the stabilizer spar to clear the elevator control horns. Also, not sure why, but the length of the push-rods prescribed in the manual (16-1/8") are far too long. In my case 15-1/2" was more appropriate to fine tune the elevator travel. It's worth remembering that the length of these tubes is dependent on where you place the elevator control column on the tail-cone.

Nevertheless, with the elevator positions set, the cables could be threaded through the nylon guides, and swaged once the distance to the elevator turnbuckles was established.
