Brief Description:  Dressing distributor cap wires

I need to send the older model points-only distributor back to WW to have it converted to the new combination points/electronic distributor he now offers. That could take a while to get back, so I temporarily installed the distributor to allow me to fit and crimp the ingnition wires. That way, they're not flopping all over the place as I work on the engine.

As a side-note, I bought some ignition wire crimping dies from summit that fit my exisiting ratcheting pliers perfectly. This is the second set of dies that I've purchased from another manufacturer that work with these pliers. I'm starting to wonder if there are only one or two manufacturers of these products, and the secondary stores just give them different colored handles.

With these crimpers in hand, I set to identifying the wires coming from each cylinder/spark plug combination, and getting the lengths right given their location on the distributor cap. Silicone spray lube is absolutely needed to get the boots on the wire before crimping the connector.Temporarily tied it all together with hook-n-loop fastener.

Following WW recommendations, I also put industrial heat-shrink on the primary ignition wire (coming from the diode array on the left side of the firewall) at the sites where the adel clamps grip it (Image 2). This heat shrink has glue on the inside to really bond to the wire.
