Brief Description:  Starter switch and power wires

Most other corvair installations appear to route the starter power wire and starter switch wire over the top of the engine, out the nylon baffle plate in the rear, and directly across to the firewall. I assume that's to minimize the weight of the massive 4 AWG gauge starter power wire. And I suppose that if you are going to jump across that gap, it makes sense to use this fat wire as a 'brace' for the smaller 12 AWG starter switch wire. My problem is that the whole thing doesn't look very aesthetic. I've been trying to route all wires right down the right-hand engine mount strut just as they exit the firewall, and would prefer the starter wires also follow this 'highway'.

In the end, I just went with convention. I added an Adel clamp to fix movement of the vertical wire bundle on the firewall, andleft a fair amount of slack in the bend to absorb any movement between the engine and the firewall.

Image 3 does show a very busy intersection of spark-plug wires, starter switch wire, starter power wire, and oil pressure and temperature sensors. The oil temp sensor is probably the biggest offender, as it goes from a 3/16" tube all the way up to a 3/4" NPT fitting in the gold housing. THe NPT fitting edges, and a crimped connection could be sources of abrasion for the absolutely essential electrical wires. I'll see if I can find a large diameter tygon tube to fit over the largest NPT fitting.
