Brief Description:  Coil/gascolator cooling box Part 3

I decided that the coil-retaining bracket was chunky enough to be used as a supersized 'nut plate' of sorts. So here you can see that I drilled a couple of 11/64" holes on either edge of the bracket and tapped them to 10-32, to accept a couple of stainless AN3 screws. In this way, I can use these as attachment points for a variety of clamps and components on the inside of the firewall. I know I'll be attaching the master brake fluid reservoir somewhere here, so hopefully it will come in handy.

The gascolator plumbing is very tricky. The 90 degree AN6 elbow to be used here is incompatible in length and geometery with the space limitations of this area of the firewall, so I had to weld up another 'spacer' of a precise length that positions the gascolator the correct distance from the firewall, Wish I could say my welding is improving. Nevertheless, Image 3 also shows the piece of aluminum angle I used as an attach bracket for the gascolator itself. The box cover has a hole large enough to accomodate the AN6 nut, 1/8" silcone as an abrasion protection gasket.
