Brief Description:  Oil filter housing replacement

I purchased WW's oil filter housing and sandwich adapter to replace the simple 'plate' he was offering back in 2005. The plate was designed to send the oil to a remote cooler and filter, while the 'gold' adapter components allow the filter to be attached directly to the top of the engine (saves firewall space and 2 hoses) and shortens the hoses that carry oil to the cooler, now only a few inches away. Significantly reduces the clutter behind the engine.

Image 2: Since WW's sandwich adapter has an integral cooler bypass valve, the cooler bypass valve in the rear oil pump assembly needs to be removed. With the plate off, it's a relatively simple procedure to pull out the bypass unit, but to my surprise, the bypass had already been removed (screw in Image 2 is pointing to where the bypass unit ought to be). With the old plateand no cooler bypass, it would have taken forever for oil temps to get to 150 degrees in spring, fall, and winter months. Also left the old gasket as it was essentially perfect, and apparently no permatex sealant used in the install.

Image 3: Complted install with included harware (nice for a change). Have to temporarily seal all these openings with a zip lock bag until the hoses are completed.
