Brief Description:  Elevator tip reinforcement

As prescribed somewhere (either on the builder's list or an official AD from MAM), the outboard elevator tips require doublers to reinforce the connection between the skins and the tube/spar. At first I wasn't sure why this was needed, but when you consider that the fiberglass tips (and the elevator counterweights) will create some twisting loads on that area, it makes sense.

On the one one the left Iin the photo) I was able to use a left-over elevator rib. The one one the right required a complete fabrication; not particularly difficult (with my trusty homemade brake) but not very exciting either. Though not shown here, the tabs extend all the way under the skins to the 3/16" rivets. Also, I was able to capture the hole under the center-tab, so all in all, the new doubler connects to the spar-tube at three places....plenty strong.
