Brief Description:  Control column

Shot of the right control column bracket. It has been suggested on the builders' list that at least one of these brackets be screwed in by tapping the FUS-5 for AN3 bolts (instead of riveting to FUS-5) (see Wayne's posts). This would allow removal of the control column should one need access under the instrument panel. I elected to fabricate a two piece bracket unit, by bending up some 0.063" plate on three sides to fit on the interior of the factory bracket. Once I was satisfied with the fit, I drilled seven 3/16" holes (three on the side, and two on each end), six #11 holes through the floor through FUS-5, and cut off the three flanges from the original bracket. Image 1 shows the finished product.
