The fairings now have several layers of Flex-Seal over the fiberglass that have dried. Now I set out to smooth out the irregularities in the surface. I started using a Dremel with a sanding tube, and that worked out pretty good for knocking down the high spots and leaving a surprisingly smooth surface. To further smooth it, I used the multitool sanding pad to clean it up. That worked quite well and I'm pleasantly surprised with the smoothness and gloss of the resulting surface. Got the surfaces as good as I dared. There are still some low spots and bubble points, so I'm giving it a final coat on top of what I have to try and fill those in. Then I will sand it down for what I hope will be the final time. Test fits indicate I am about where I need to be as far as the thickness of the inner coating.
