This is a summary entry for the last week an a half or so. This summer term has really cut into my build time.
Basically, I finished up the bubble doors, at least for now. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I got both bubbles fit wrong on the frames and will have to replace them. So I didn't rivet the bubbles onto the frames.
I'm really impressed with how those struts hold the doors open and then pull them closed. The key is to make sure the strut is almost fully closed when the strut is parallel to the upright. This occurs BEFORE the door is fully closed. Once the door is closed, the upper connection point on the strut is inboard of the upright and the force of the strut helps close the bubble door.
Even though I'll be replacing the bubbles, I installed the latches and strike plates since those won't be changing. Riveted everything except the bubbles and outer gussetts.
