Brief Description:  Plumbing the engine

Determined locations for the coolant and gearbox oil tanks. I would have put both on the top shelf, but the coolant tank is too tall and wide to fit. Decided to put them on the passenger side. Most of my flying will be solo, so I want to add as much weight to the passenger side as possible during the build. Made a hole in the shelf for the gearbox outlet nozzle and secured the tank with bolts. Need to get some more bolts for the coolant tank. Confirmed the provided coolant feed hose would reach.

Drilled holes for the heater unit feed and return also on the passenger side. I worked out best there as I have the ECU hanging down on the pilot side and the passenger side of the avionics shelf is clear behind the map box cutout for fabricating heater unit support.

Removed the threaded plug from the engine heater outlet and threaded the Viking provided barbed end. Attached heater hose end and secured with hose clamp. Preliminarily routed the heater input hose.

With difficulty, got the heater return hose stub off and removed the plug. For some reason, a replacement for the Odeiker (sp) clamp was not included in the kit, so will need to pick one up before reinstalling.

Also need to get some high temp clear gearbox hose to replace the stub that came with the engine so it will reach the tank.

Made a list of stuff to get from Lowes and auto parts store to finish this portion of the plumbing.

NOTE FROM FUTURE SELF: When I got around to fitting the lower cowling, I discovered that by slightly offsetting the radiator towards the passenger side, I introduced some interference resulting in cowl cutting. Also, the coolant hoses will need to be re-routed to be raised up above the cowling bottom. Some preliminary cowling fitting before filling the coolant would have been beneficial at this point. Also, I think I may need to increase the angle of attack on the airbox.
