Brief Description:  Rudder tip prep

Drilled and cleco'd the holes in the plastic cap to the forward top rib. Positioned that combo onto the top of the rudder so the forward top cap edge was lined up just right with the vertical fin and marked the edge on the bottom of the top rib. The result was almost exactly what the new rudder assembly instructions indicated. Removed the tip from the rib and drilled pilot holes in the rib based on where I marked to go into the rudder top angle. I had asked Zenith to throw in some scrap .063 sheet pieces to make the bungee pin fix, so I used those as spacers to align the top rudder rib with the rudder body. Drilled through the rib holes into the tip angle and cleco'd. This is where I'm glad I waited to drill the trailing edge of the cap and rib until I had the fin assembled and the rudder attached to it. I was able to get the spacing between the bottom of the rudder rib/cap and the top of the fin just right before drilling. IMHO, the rudder cap/rib should NOT be drilled during the rudder workshop, but left unattached until the fin is constructed and connected to the rudder with the piano hinge. Far too easy to get something misaligned when you don't have all the parts for reference.
Finally, disassembled and deburred the top rib/cap/angle. Treated metal to metal locations.
