Today was spent wiring up the ELT. The ELT and panel switch were mounted previously, but I hadn't wired them up yet. I started by soldering the wires for the D-Sub connector. To run from the switch to the ELT I used 4 wire shielded cable. In addition to the 2 wires that run to the panel switch, I had to add a ground wire to the cable shield and an output to the alarm speaker. There is also a data wire in the shielded cable that I hooked up, but will not be using. This took a while as I'm no fine soldering guru. I added some shrink tubing when assembling the plug housing.
With the plug attached, I ran the shielded cable up to the switch before crimping the pins on that end. I also grounded the shield to a terminal on the power panel. I attached the alarm speaker to a support just above the ELT and connected the speaker wires. Spent some time securing the wires with loom and zip ties. I connected the switch, but didn't plug into the ELT yet. I'll do my testing later and I don't want any possibility of an inadvertant activation.
