Brief Description:  Finishing rear spar doubler replacement

Repeated the process of removing the rear spar doubler and replacing it with a new part as describeds in ly last entry, but for the passenger side. A couple of differences though. I found that by extending my access panel I could indeed get the old rivets drilled out without de-riveting the trailing edge. By using a pair of pliers to hold the spring loaded center punch inside the trailing edge, I could get the rivet shafts started. Then the drill didn't need to be exactly perpendicular to get off the heads of the rivets. It took some work, but I was able to finish punching out the old rivets. Then it was a matter of breaking the Cortec seal to get the doubler to slide out.

I did go ahead and drill the fuel line passthrough holes on both sides since the other parts were already cut to a 7/8" opening.

I measured from the fuselage side to the pilot hole on the rear attachment tabs and trimmed the extended doublers to be just shy of touching the fuselage sides. About 3mm shaved off each of the new doublers, so that means I added about 7mm to the lengths of the original doublers.

With the new doublers cleco'd in place, I lifted the wings back to attachment height and inserted a throwaway bolt in front and a cleco into the rear attachments. A string across the wingspan still looks good on the rivet line, but I haven't adjusted dihedral yet as it was time to quit for the day.

Ordered some A6 rivets from ACS.
