Brief Description:  Drilling firewall mount holes

Drilled (mostly) the firewall engine mount points. Obtained some 2" and 2 1/2" 3/8 bolts from Lowes. Using these temporarily to determine what size AN6 bolts to order for permenant use. Started by cleaning out the holes on the mount so that the AN6 bolts used for attaching the firewall and engine to the mount would allow the bolts to pass. Just needed to get the powder coating cleaned off from the inside of the holes.

From the outside, incrementally drilled the 3/8" mounting holes in the pre-drilled pilot locations. This took a while because of the steel mounts inside. Added the temporary bolts from inside and then the mount. I was amazed at how well the Viking mount fit. No forcing or bending needed at all. Snugged the 4 primary mounting locations and then started addressing the top.

The width of the mount and cabin frame surfaces lined up, but the frame was sitting a bit lower on the firewall than the mount. Raised and clamped the top so the frame was aligned properly with the mount. Laid out locations for 2 1/4" holes for AN4 bolts. That steel is tough to get through and I didn't finish getting those drilled. Need some fresh drill bits. Once that is done, I can determine the AN bolts to order and prep the holes.
