Brief Description:  Nose top skin/dashboard

Marked centerlines on dashboard and firewall flanges. Clamped the dashboard in place. Positioned the nose top skin. I really should have put the nose top skin in place before riveting the firewall in place. Fortunately, there was enough play that I was able to slide the skin between the firewall and the cabin frame top mount enough to get to the cutout in the skin. It was tough getting the top skin to fit well on both sides, but I finally got the rough fit in. Used the flange line on the dash top flange to backdrill from the top and cleco pilot holes. Repeated the pilot hole drilling with the firewall flange. Used the existing holes from the nose side and cabin side skins to backdrill into the longerons and cabin frame. After clecoing, opened all the holes in the top skin to final size.

The interior is now starting to look like an airplane. I'm not going to rivet any of this now. I will do the L angle stiffeners after I have the top ready to seal up. I think I will use nutplates or timmermans on the top of the dash so it can rotate inward for access to the panel innards. I will need to make cutouts on the sides to make that happen, but not until I have a better idea of panel layout.
