Brief Description:  Vertical Fin attach brackets, trial fit

Ground off the lips of the lower longerons to allow clearance for nuts. Positioned and upsized the holes in the lower longerons to match the bracket. Prepared the parts and assembled with A5 rivets and bolts. Bolted the tie down ring.

The rest of the time was just for practice. I went through the motions of trimming the vertical fin skin to follow the stab curvature. After a couple of passes, it fit pretty well, so I cleco'd the fin onto the brackets from the inside of the fuselage. Added the rudder using the piano hinge wire. To the casual observer from the ground it looked pretty good. Unfortunately, I know where all the problems are with the rudder and vertical fin and had pretty much decided I was going to have a do-over on those sub-assemblies. Zenith is now match drilling the vertical fin (my kit didn't have that) which should make it much easier to assemble correctly, I also know of some mistakes I made in building the rudder at the workshop that I want to correct. IMHO those two assemblies should be constructed together anyways to ensure they fit properly. Will order those tomorrow and bite the bullet on the cost. It would fly as-is, but this is one of those times where sleeping through the night outweighs doing it over.
