Brief Description:  Started joining H stab to fuselage

Spent yesterday just doing a general clean-up of the shop building aka "the hangar" and rearranging things so I would have room to begin attaching the tail feathers to the fuselage and be able to manuver the plane around and out the wider of the two garage doors..

Started today by drilling out four rivets in the fuselage that I had mistakenly put in earlier. Also had some holes in the fuselage that needed to go up to A5. Upsized the pilot holes in the HS gussetts to A5. Prepped the gussets and front and rear HS mounting brackets. While the Cortec was drying, I removed the elevator and tips from the H stab. Riveted the HS mounting brackets.

Set the H stab onto the brackets, clamped lightly and began checking angles. To my complete and utter amazement, everything was at or within tolerance from the get-go, but I made a few adjustments to get the measurements even closer. I used a digital level to baseline the references to the cabin frame crossbar and side bars.

1) The stab originally was out about 0.2 degrees relative to the cabin cross bar, but slight adjustment brought it to 0.

2) To determine if the stab is perpendicular to the aircraft centerline, I clamped the start of the tape to the wing mounting bracket at the fuselage and measured to the outside forward point of the stab. Both sides were 3040mm exactly, I couldn't believe my eyes.

3) To determine stab angle of attack, I affixed 2 gold clecos to the centerline holes in each end of the stab and but the digital level on it. Initially, there was about 0.4 degrees down angle, but I got both sides to around 0.5 - 0.6 down angle (tolerance 0-1 down).

Retook all measurements after adjustment and it looks good. Gonna let it sit overnight and if it all looks great tomorrow, I'll drill the mounting holes for the stab.
