Brief Description:  Forward fuselage to rear fitting

Got started up again after the EAA chapter visit yesterday. While I was moving everything back in place so I could get my truck into the shop, I positioned the rear fuselage for forward fuse fitting. I lowered the rear and raised the front so that after the assemblies are brought together there would be access to the join point and table available to support the front. My wife helped me fit it together, and I was impressed how well it mated. While supporting the front, I cleco'd the bottom union, then drilled out the gusset area holes to size 20 and cleco'd. Finally, I drilled the longerons from the outside and cleco'd.

The other thing I worked on was reattaching the seat bases in order to mark the outboard level or adding L angles. This meant some disassembly of the center console so that the base rear lip could be slipped under the front of the baggage floor. With the fuse front and rear attached, the fit is much tighter and I will probably slightly file outboard portions of the seat pans to keep the edges of the seat base from a hard abutment to the outer skin. I also noticed that the predrilled holes in the tops of the seat channels were misaligned from the seat pans by about 1/4 inch. I thought I must have something installed wrong because everything is pre-drilled, but there is only one way to attach the channels to the cabin floor and I kept coming up with the same result on both sides. Unless I'm really dense, either the seat bases or the channels are mis-drilled. I will probably email Roger, but there is plenty of space to add rivets between the misaligned holes. My photo of that is not good, but you can see where I stuck a red sharpie through the predrilled base holes to see where the holes on the channel should be. Spent way too much time trying to figure this out.
