In the taildragger, you have to fabricate a couple of small angles with nutplates that serve to attach the closeout panels for the interior fuel runs on the main spar. This seems easy enough........Well, you have to carefully drill the holes into the thick interior skin without going thru the exterior skin. There is a very shallow pocket between that you are supposed to use for blind rivets that attach this angle. The plans call for LP4-3 blind rivets.
At a glance, it is very obvious this sized rivet will not work. It's much too long and bottoms out well before making flush contact to the angle. After much thought, I substituted rivets with a shorter shank size and it did the trick.
