Brief Description:  Paint Prep Cowling

Sand, check, sand, check....... I first sprayed on 2 heavy coats of 2K Epoxy Filler Primer. Then sanded that back untill I started to get just a hint of pink. Next, I mounted the cowling and applied a very light skim coat of micro, except in one area around the left nostirl. The next day I started sanding with 180 and after a few hours I wasn't making much progress. I reluctanly decided to try some 80 grit on the DA sander. It was a little aggresive but, it worked. I finally started to make some progress and get some work done. I sanded again untill a little pink started to show. I did go a little past where I did originally but it was really getting the high spots out. I finished up with the 180 on the flat hand sander. I have been using a Marshalltown drywall hand sander to do the majority of blocking, with great results. Now to shoot a couple more coats of 2K, re-block with the hand sander. Hopefully, I will be very close to the final finish before paint.
