Brief Description:  Started Drilling Holes

In order to pull the wiring harness down the left side, I wanted the have the engine control cables ran thru the gear tower. I didn't want to cause any problems later with a bundle of wires in the way. In order to get the throtle quadrant cables in place I had to do the dreaded dead of makeing holes in the firewall. I read everything I could about how to drill without damaging it. I didnt want to use the method of sealing around the holes like the plans call for. I wanted something better for saftey and looks. I ordered eyeball fittings only to find out they require 1 1/8" hole! Oh no! I've got to make three big holes in the firewall. After much deliberation and fitting, I finally decided to make my holes as large as I could to with my UniBit then open them up with a carbide deburring bit in my die grinder. It worked great on the first hole! I was almost finished with the second hole when the bit grabbed and kicked back bending the firewall slighlty! I was able to tap it back using the rivet gun and bucking bar with a lite bit of air. Crisis averted. It isn't completely flat but the eyeball sockets and the fire stop sealant will fix it just fine!
