I have been thinking about the avionics for months. I planned for this plane to be light and simple. However, I would also like it to be "cross country" ready. After reading several post's about folks being stuck simply because of a low cloud deck, I have decided to make it IFR. It will NOT be "hard IFR". It will be "minimal IFR". I have been flying IFR for several years and I don't want to weigh this thing down with double everything. It's mission is NOT a hard core IFR machine. But, I do see the need to have it where it can at least pop up through a cloud deck to get somewhere. It'll have no autopilot or redudancy. As long as I have been flying IFR, I think this will be just fine for its intended purpose.
I have decided on a Garmin G3X system from Stien Air. They will also be doing the wiring plan.
