When I initially instaqlled an ELT, it was of the old type, an Ameri-King ELT-450. All indications were that price would drop on the new style ELT, and that Ameri-King's offering would be phsically compatible with the older unit.
Well, sort of. The ELT itself have to be swapped out, and they were physically identical, and the antenna had to be swapped. However, the control unit on the panel now required additional space, which simply did not exist. I had to buy some additional parts, so I could extend the interface on the back of the unit to an area where there was more space.
