Tank Baffle, Checkoway Method - 4 hours
We riveted the nutplates to the spar for the inboard-most tank Z-bracket and attached the bracket and checked it for square. We then clecoed the tank together. We found it easier to get the tips of the ribs clecoed with the tank out of the jig, then put it in the jig and cleco the rest, alternating top and bottom for the first few, then finishing one side.

When we first set the tank on the wing, the fit at the leading edge joint plate wasn't good at all. The skins were touching on the aft end, and there was about a 1/32" gap at the the LE. We ended up marking up areas where the skins were making contact, then taking the tank off and filing the edge of the skin. About three iterations later, the gap was down to less than 1/64" - something I can live with since paint will cover it.

We drilled the inboard-most Z-bracket first. My line didn't line up in the holes, but whatever, the edge distance is fine and more importantly, the holes and the bracket were parallel. Next we removed the LE assembly and drilled the outboard most Z-bracket. This time the holes lined up over my line, not perfect but good enough for me. Finally, we removed the skin and interior ribs from the tank and drilled the rest of the Z-brackets. The holes were lined up very well over my lines, and everything went great.

We ended the night by cutting, shaping, and deburring the stiffeners for the right tank.
