Left Elevator, Trim Servo, Trim Tab - 8 hours
I'm not done with the left elevator assembly, but a lot closer than I was this morning. I spent about two hours messing with the trim servo and deciding how and where to mount it. After much clamping, measuring, tapping, measuring, measuring, measuring, I finally drilled some holes and got it put together. This is the first electrical component on the airplane.

After that, I decided to try seeing how easy/difficult it was going to be installing and removing the servo. After some messing around, I decided to file a small notch in the reinforcement plate on the elevator to allow one corner of the servo to clear. Now if I maneuver it in the right sequence of twists and turns, it comes right out.

I used an angle gauge (wood working tool) to measure the approximate angle of the trim tab and transfer this angle to some wood blocks. Band saw, belt sander, and I had a nice set of forming blocks. I also used this method to bend the tabs on the elevator. I clamped it all together and then followed the directions and worked back and forth with a mallet and small wood block. It came out pretty good - not perfect, but acceptable. I'm building an airplane, not a show plane.

I continued to work on the trim tab until I was tired of standing up. I got the hinge drilled and the bottom mostly riveted. I think I'm going to have to use a pop rivet in the aft most hole on the control horn (where the cleco is in the picture). It was tricky squeezing those rivets, but the longeron yoke worked well.

Wings! - 3 hours
I started the evening out finishing up the trim tab. I riveted the hinges onto the tab and the elevator and mounted the tab. Now all that remains (besides glass work) for the tail surfaces is rolling the LE of the left elevator, and installing the hinges.

I spent a few minutes cleaning up the shop, then waited for Jeff Anderson to arrive with the wing kit. When he arrived, we unload
