HS Spar Assembly - 2.5 hours
I assembled my front and rear HS spars today. For the rear spar, I squeezed every rivet. The first one was over squeezed a little, but I dialed it in on the second one and they all look great.

The front HS spar didn't go as smoothly. I ended up drilling out three rivets and re-doing them, and may end up redoing some more. Lesson learned for the day - Bucking rivets is not something to do by yourself, even if it does seem like a small job. I squeezed where I could, and bucked where I had to. I need a lot of practice, and I need a helper.

Horizontal stabilizer completed! - 9 hours
Dad and I hit it hard today. We finished building the horizontal stabilizer. There were around 500 rivets in the skins alone - a lot of riveting! We're now officially over our fear of riveting. It went together very well in my opinion. There were a few holes (HS-706 to rear spar) that didn't quite line up at final assembly for some reason, but they were just barely off so I match drilled them again. We bucked most of it but we did squeeze all the rivets around the edges. I was able to use the 4" no-hole (thin nose) yoke for the first time - it's a very nice tool.

Tools on the list to buy - tungsten bucking bar, in-lb torque wrench.

Started on the vertical stabilizer - 4.5 hours
Today we got started on the vertical stabilizer. Match drilled the rear spar, doubler, hinge brackets, and all spar-to-rib holes, deburred and edge finished the ribs, and got the skin clecoed in place. This seems to be moving much quicker than the HS - perhaps less parts mixed with more confidence? Here's a picture of dad holding up what we've got so far:
