Brief Description:  First flight training and final prep

I flew with a CFI in and RV-6A, my insurance company would not accept only the time I am getting with my Flight Advisor in and RV-7 and they insisted time in and “A” model with an instructor. I lucked out and there was a guy right here at Shelton who could do the ride. He is also and A/P and get this he did the Annual Inspection on a C-150 I owned way back in 1997, how is that for small worlds.

After calibrating the fuel tanks with the help of a local RV-8 builder I ran the engine for the first time. It took some hand propping to get the oil pressure to begin to indicate. Tried the starter first but hand propping (with the bottom plugs removed and mags off) seemed to generate the pressure faster. I ran the engine for 2 minutes with no issues.

I then flew the first flight profile in my Flight Advisors RV-7; we looked at place to put down if I have the engine quit and where I should orbit and what altitude. I am ready for the first flight when the weather opens up.

I ran the engine one more time and noted oil coming up from the thread of the lower left cylinder head nuts (large ones) on both the #2 and #3 cylinders!! While pondering this issue I installed the tail fairings and the wing root fairings.
