Brief Description:  Installed the landing gear

We decided to install the landing gear now to provide a stable platform for test fitting the wings.

After installing the NAS bolts through the U-803 outboard main gear attach brackets it was impossible to get a socket on the NAS 679A6 nuts inside the gear towers. We thus decided to reverse the direction of the outboard AN3-5A bolts in the F-802G-1 and F-802H-1 corner angles to improve the access. We also had to trim the AN509-8R10 screws located directly behind the AN365-1032 nuts to eliminate any interference.

Tightened all the landing gear attach nuts to the specified torque. Initially we tried to torque the NAS679A6 nuts from inside the gear towers in 5 in/lbs increments but the setup is less than ideal with a universal joint and various extensions. We thus decided to torque the bolts from the bottom and add the drag torque (to turn the bolt in the hole after tightening) to the 240 in/lbs.

We then checked for the required 0.030" clearance between the face of each outboard attach bracket and the U-805-1 outboard wear plates but there was almost none. Removed both landing gear legs and machined the faces of the outboard attach brackets down by 0.030"
