No joy tonight. After disassembling the center bearing assembly I noticed the pretty significant gouges on the top of the VA-146 bearing supports. The powder coat is chipped and there is some rust started. I have no idea how I did this, pretty disappointed.
In any case, ordered new brackets and a bearing from Vans so I can start over.
