Today was our EAA chapter meeting. We listened to some great flying stories told by a few of our members. Good to have some extra motivation to keep this going. After the meeting I asked our tech counselor to look over practice kit 1. He recommemded I try set caps on the universal heads to minimize the damage to the 470 rivets. He did tell me I wouldn't need to remove any of my rivets if these were on the plane. However, there is no hiding the finished product is a bit ugly. I probably drill out all of the rivets just for some practice.
We have an unbelievable amount of building and flying experience in our chapter. I feel very lucky to have access to the skills and knowledge these guys have.
This evening I worked a bit more on practice kit two. Per the instructions I labeled parts, fit the stiffeners to CP1 and CP2 and then match-drilled all of the stiffener holes. I then deburred the skins and stiffeners. That will be it on the stiffeners until the DRDT-2 dimpler arrives next week.
