Brief Description:  Pannel cutting

Finished marking the panel after a talk with Dynon about a master avionics switch. Decided not to install one, but will have to put in two diodes, one on the master solenoid, and one on the starter solenoid, to keep any reverse voltage from spiking the system. Should be an easy install, which I looked up on the internet. I marked and drilled all the switch holes first, starting with a small bit and then a larger one before going to the step drill. It was easier to do it by hand, especially since my drill press is not the best. It worked better than I though since I went slow and started with a #40 bit. Then I started cutting the square holes for the intercom, vhf radio, and the EFIS. I started with a dremmel and a reinforced cutting wheel. The panel was thick though and it was heating up the dremmel with the slow work. I started cutting the EFIS hole with an air cut off wheel and about a 3 inch disk. The compressor ran out of air fairly quickly, and I would switch back and forth with the dremmel on the smaller cutouts. I managed to finish and filed a little checking the fit, which need more material removed tomorrow. Maybe the sanding drum and then the file. Lots of work.
