Brief Description: Cam and con rod clearance problem.
Drat. The #1 con rod strikes the shoulder of the cam shaft by the #1 cam bearing. Another call to Sonex, as I suspect it's not a good idea to just go grinding away on either the cam or the con rod.7/7/06 update. I spoke with John. He suggested I swap the con rod with another and see if the problem goes away. I swapped the rod with another, and it actually got a little worse. So, swapped them back. The alternative per John was to relieve a bit of the rod where it hits. That's what I did. You can see the result in the third photo. I actually removed very little material -- it was just on the edge of the rod. I now have a good .010 clearance between the cam and the rod.
