Brief Description:  ELT

I decided to go with the ACK ELT. Of course, it's only good for a few more years, and then we'll all have to buy the new versions. Oh well. The ELT is mounted in my "luggage compartment" on a fabricated shelf. The RCPI was mounted on the turtledeck former to keep it simple. I drilled the antenna mounting hole in the aft turtledeck, at the former about 1 foot forward of the vertical stabilizer. I also inserted the 8 Duracell batteries and performed an activation test using my handheld transceiver on 121.5 mHZ. Tested fine, both the inertia test and just turning it to on.Later, I added the halon fire extinguisher "piggy back" on the ELT. It's held by hose clamps. At first I was going to mount in on the fuselage side by the passenger's right knee, but that makes the already cozy cockpit space even more intrusive.
