I opened the case and resealed the cam plug and case halves using Loctite 318 per Steve Bennett's recommendation in his manual. Only the next runup will tell if the problem is totally resolved.

While I was at it I also moved the CHT sensor from under the sparkplugs to under the center head bolt nearest the rear plugs. This is supposed to give a more accurate reading, plus you won't damage the sensor when you replace your plugs. On removal, I found that the sparkplug gasket had been misformed due by the CHT sensor anyway, so I'm glad I went back in. The paper air filter had also been soaked with oil from the leak. I had heard that it is prone to failure, so I decided to replace it with a permanent K&N filter. I also replaced the simple push/pull mixture control with a push button lock control. Good old scope creep......

Off to Kentucky for flight training so the project will have to wait for a couple of weeks:
