Brief Description:  Canopy Masking

Grommets from model aircraft servo mounts were used to achieve the correct distance from the frame; they work a treat. English Pin Clamps were used to gently push the plexiglass onto the frame; clecos were too severe and scary on the plexiglass.
The canopy was masked first to the final line and then a second tape about 1/8” inside this. The idea is that the Silkaflex is applied and when tack free (50mins) the second / inside tape is peeled off. Two days later the second and final Sikaflex is applied to make a perfect finish and the second tape peeled off. The best tape turned out to be light model masking tape manufactured by Tamiya. It’s very easy to use, gives great straight lines and peels off brilliantly; much better than stretchy electric tape. It’s a good idea to set another tape about 1/8” back from the final masking tape as a guide, it’s difficult to see the masking tape line with all the Sikaflex during the finishing with the Tooling agent N.
