There doesn’t seem to be enough room in the elevator horn to accommodate the required lead to balance the elevator; probably because the electric Ray Allan trim motors add more weight than the manual trim that was used in earlier models. So, a nutplate was attached behind the tooling hole to allow more lead to be added later. An ‘ L ‘ shaped stainless steel washer, from aircraft quality material, was fabricated to ensure the lead washer shaped weight could not move.
